Daniela, 8 years old

“I wish to be a Princess“

Now - is there any lovelier wish than a little girl who dreams of being a Princess ? Daniela's wish was to be a Princess and to be able to wear a pink princess dress.

On a sunny Saturday morning, Daniela arrived with her mum at the hairdressers. Treated like royalty, both mum and daughter were whisked off to have their hair done and a touch of glossy make-up applied.  All coiffed, Daniela was driven to a romantic chateau in the Geneva countryside.

Waiting in the courtyard of the chateau were Daniela's friends and their parents. As the crowd gathered, a gentleman in medieaval costume arrived, accompanied by a lady in a big white hat who played the violin. The gentleman presented the lady as the Duchess of the Smelly Socks and he stated his name was the Duke of Wishland where Merry Princesses and their little puppy dogs lived happily in a land filled with cake and pink candy floss.
The Duke invited the  children and Daniela to follow him into the chateau. In the stately courtroom the Duke asked the children to sit in the tall chairs around the fireplace. To gather everyone's attention the Duke blew loudly into his trumpet and declared to all those assembled that the King of Wishland had lost his Princess daughter. The Duke said he had a slipper which belonged to the lost Princess and that it was his duty to scour the Kingdom for the young girl who would fit the shoe.  One by one the Duke tried the shoe on each young lady's foot... imagine the gasp of delight when Daniela slipped her foot easily into the slipper and it fitted perfectly!  The Duke was so happy, he instructed his attendant to take Princess Daniela  off to change into her royal dress so that she could be feted and honoured as she deserved. Princess Daniela dutifully returned to meet her friends wearing the most exquisite long pink dress with a matching shawl and carrying a delicate bouqet of pastel flowers.

The crowd cheered and bowed as she walked along the red carpet toward her throne.Once seated the Duchess of the Smelly Socks and the Duke of Wishland presented Princess Daniela with her tiara which she wore regally and with pride.

After further cheering and bowing from her subjects, Princess Daniela decided to join her friends in order to spend the rest of the day  playing lots of  medieaval games and enjoying a banquet of treats.

As mum proudly watched, along with Daniela's older sister and brother, our special Princess kept her tiara on throughout all the games and the twinkle in her eyes and the smile she wore all day, told us that the magic had happened - we had a real Princess in our midst.
